General Rules For Better Recognition

– The award should not be something recipients can easily buy for themselves unless it is very high-end.

– The award needs to be personalized in some way – something so it is not just generic, which makes it look like the company was too busy to care. The appropriate award for a company of outdoor workers should not be the same award for a company of accountants.

– The award has to be part of a program, aligned with company’s overall goal.

– Don’t give money as an award alone. Include something tangible and personalized.

– Use materials to excite the entire company culture: posters, handouts, desktop reminders. These support items are part of the process toward ultimately reaching goals and recognition.
